 In Meet Our Staff

George Wickham is one of our baristas but also our very own coffee roaster. He started to work with coffee about 6 years ago. Not knowing that 6 years later he will be deep into the industry and doing so many more things than just making the actual coffee drink. 6 years ago George moved out here from Ohio and got a job at Cafecito Organico in Malibu. Was not really into coffee until shortly after getting the job he tried a naturally processed Ethiopian coffee. He thought the barista put something in the coffee, like blueberries. But it was just the natural flavor of the bean itself. 3 years later George started to roast his own coffee and 1 year after that he started to source his own beans. Yes coffee is not just coffee! 6 years of barista experience 3 years of roasting 2 years of sourcing. We consider ourselves lucky to have him on board here at Harvest cafe.

George has been with us since we opened, and is quite the coffee perfectionist. Dialing in in the morning, tasting, adjusting, making sure everything is done just right.   He has the luxury of working with beans that he himself roasted a few days or weeks before. He knows his coffee and knows where he can take it. Coffee is so much more than just coffee. Using all 6 senses to figure out the right roast and taste is one of George’s favorite things and specialties. Coffee is a science and it is like nutrition in that you are learning and exploring new things every day!
