Water (Part 2)
In our last blog post we spoke about water related to a vegetarian diet.
This time we are talking about water for the human body.
We want to consume our water wisely and one way to do that is by drinking it. We here at Harvest Cafe believe that water is one of the most important superfoods! It does not matter if you eat super healthy, exercise, meditate and are slacking on you water intake. A human body needs water to keep the machine going. Water is our main ingredient in our body. Literally everything in our body uses water to function properly. Our body uses water for all of our cells, organs and tissues. Drinking water will help you stay in shape, keep your energy level high, brain awake, skin glowing, metabolism going and over all feel good.
It also matters how you drink your water. Our body can only absorb so much water at one time. If you forget to drink water until the afternoon, it does not help to chug water. Drinking water first thing in the morning and all through the day, little but often is how the body absorbs the water the best way.
To keep this healthy body going a good role of thumb is 8 glasses of water a day, here at harvest we like the role of thumb 1oz water per pound. So if you weigh 150lb your body would like 150oz of water per day. This recommendation is for a normal day activity, if you enjoy working out or enjoy our next door neighbors yoga classes your body would like additional water to stay properly hydrated. Keep in mind that we don’t only get water from drinking water, a lot of our fruits and vegetables contain rich amounts of water. If you are not drinking water maybe increase your water based veggies and fruits like cucumber watermelon & celery.
